Expansion into Children's Ministry

When God’s favour is on people, the branches truly go over the wall. The work in the interior and favelas has moved into areas that we never anticipated. One such area is the "Ray of Hope" Holiday Clubs.

Gloria Santos, a half-Indian jungle guide who runs a small tourist business in Manaus, felt God’s call to go to the jungle to minister to the children. There are many dysfunctional families in the jungle and many children leave to become street children in the cities. Also many Indian communities are not open to the gospel because the chief feels threatened by any pastor who might go there. Gloria desired to go but had no money. In 2003, Paul Randerson gave her $400 of "Brazil Project" money to take her team into the jungle and begin special meetings for children. The clubs last 3-4 days and all the children are fed, given hygiene instruction and shoes for their feet (plastic sandals). Through puppets, music, discussion and teaching they hear the gospel of the love of Jesus. Many mothers who attend have been saved. Indian communities have opened up because they wanted help for their children and as a result churches are being planted.

Gloria now spends half her time in the jungle. God has just miraculously provided them with a boat to go further along the rivers and deeper into the jungle.
