90 Pioneer Workers now released to preach the Gospel and
plant Churches

At the last conference with 80,000 in attendance, a large group of men stepped forward after passing selection procedures, to say "We are ready to go whether we have support or not". Men with jobs in the cities, career men leaving homes, cars and amenities to go into the jungle to pioneer churches and reach new counties in this virgin territory. For many years the Brazil Project has supported some of these workers. Starting small it has grown, through the faithful giving of people, to now enable 90 of these heralds of the gospel to be supported. They tramp though dense jungle, walk miles along river banks and paddle for hours to distant communities. They hold meetings, preach Christ, heal the sick, build wooden churches and oversee numerous congregations.

It’s harvest time in Amazonia and we continue to pray "Lord of the harvest, send forth workers into the harvest field".

Reports from the Workers

On our visits to Manaus and the jungle, our workers give us reports of what God is doing. Here is a selection:

Jose Arcmateio Pinheiro - has planted 11 congregations in 6 years. His wife almost died of a sickness in the jungle. He cried out to God "I can’t do this without her", the church prayed over her and God raised her up.

Pastor Cleber - 11 months ago this brother began sharing Jesus with a community. He did this from under a tree to stay dry from the rain. After a Ray of Hope children’s mission he had 12 children and 60 adults under the tree. He built a hut in the village, then a church and many are finding Jesus.

Dairual Poz de Souza - He could not get a breakthrough and the town seemed totally uninterested in the gospel. He pressed on preaching and praying for the sick. After 10 months the town mayor and his family were saved. He now has 260 saved out of a community of 291. He says he will be moving on as soon as God’s work is done.

Tacunna Tribe Pastor - On the Brazilian/Peruvian jungle borders is a tribe called the Tacunna Tribe. A man from this tribe was saved, whose name is still unknown, and has pioneered a tremendous church in this community of 3,000. Even though his knowledge of scripture was basic, his gospel was clear and God began confirming His word with signs and wonders. The church is now over 200 strong. John King’s church in Peoria, USA, has provided the pastor with a canoe and outboard motor so that he can continue to spread the message of Christ.
